- Zipori, Mordechai
- (1924- )Zipori was born on 15 September 1924 in Tel Aviv and educated in religious schools. In 1939, he joined the Irgun and in 1945 was deported by the British mandatory authority to Eritrea, where he remained until 1948. From 1948 to 1977, Zipori served in the Israel Defense Forces, reaching the rank of brigadier general and the position of assistant chief of operations in the general staff. In 1977, Zipori joined the Herut Party and was elected on behalf of that faction of the Likud to the ninth Knesset in May 1977. He served as deputy minister of defense throughout the duration of the ninth Knesset from 1977 to 1981. On 5 August 1981, after having been reelected to the 10th Knesset, he was sworn in as minister of communications and served in that position until 1984.
